Former HSBC chief economist Dennis Turner is to deliver the keynote address on the opening day of the forthcoming Plastics Design & Moulding (PDM12) exhibition, being held at London’s Excel Centre on 29 and 30 May.
Turner’s presentation will form part of the PDM12 Summit and is expected to review the current state of UK manufacturing, examine relations with the eurozone and outline what the country needs to do to get back to growth.
He will argue that the government needs to create the conditions for manufacturing to flourish, as well as spell out what industry can and should do to help itself.
Steve Crowhurst, PDM12’s event director, said: “Manufacturing has a key role to play in resurrecting the UK economy and plastics design is one of the areas where we can still lead the world.''
“Dennis Turner is exceptionally well qualified to explain to us how plastics design and manufacture in the UK can lead by being smarter rather than cheaper.”
Turner will be speaking on the first day of the two-day PDM12 Summit, which will tackle a host of in-depth topics focusing on best practice in plastics design and feature experts from a number of leading companies from the industry.
It will include award-winning design and innovation case studies and the second day will also feature sessions from members of the British Plastics Federation’s rotomoulders group its additives and masterbatch groups.
The full PDM12 Summit programme will be announced later in March.
