JCB attacks rotomoulded tank
Rotomoulding is often used to make large and tough products such as water tanks, but how can you test the durability of these plastic mouldings? “Easy,” according ICO Polymers. “You attack them with JCB construction equipment and make a video of it.”

ICO Polymers, a supplier of rotomoulding powders, asked one of its customers, Imagenta Mouldings, to rotomould 3,500 litre underground water storage tanks in ICO’s new Icorene 1314 LMDPE.

These mouldings were then taken to the JCB arena in Staffordshire to be beaten, dropped and crushed by a 29 tonne excavator. To make life more interesting, one of the tanks was made using a “different quality” rotomoulding material and all of them filled with 3 tonnes of water.

The video of the attacks can be viewed by clicking here.

ICO Polymers is an exhibitor at PDM10.
